Helping the Musical Instrument Industry Launch New Products for 20 Years.

Let’s start at today, and work our way back in time. As of today, I’ve been working within the Musical Instrument Industry for 20 years. Most recently, I’ve worked with Ibanez, Toontrack, and NeuralDSP with creating bespoke music for products. In 2021 I helped launch Ibanez’s reinvigorated Iron Label lineup by writing 2 songs: 1) for the announcement, and 2) for a video and guitar playthrough. Toontrack is a company I’ve been working with for 3 years now - I’ve written over 20 tracks to launch or promote new or existing libraries.

These tracks ranged from the Nine Inch Nails and Darkwave styles, as well as more ornate metal and rock pieces. Along with my trustee assistant, we completed a 14 track Lo-Fi album for NeuralDSP comprised of focused, relaxed lofi versions of the songs featured in every launch video they’ve put out to date. I love writing custom music and creating behind-the-scenes videos for the companies I’d be using with or without an officiated relationship.

Now let’s talk a walk down memory lane, 20 years ago. I was 16 years old when my uncle got me a job at Sam Ash Music in Paramus, New Jersey in 2002. As a kid, I had no idea how lucky I was to enter the work force in this capacity. Most kids my age worked jobs they hated, and I got to work at one of the best musical instrument stores in the tri-state area at the time. We had walk-ins from folks like Al Di Meola, George Benson, Redman, Lenny White, not to mention the endless amounts of producers, composers, and folks of other fame. Paramus, New Jersey was only 15 minutes away from the George Washington Bridge, so we had incredibly close ties to the music world. But what happened to me when I was 16 is, I learned that not only did I want to make music for a living, but I never wanted to work in any other capacity in my life. And so I didn’t.

Vintage Vibe Concert Series - the Modernized Rhodes

From 2002 until 2018, I only worked in musical instrument store. From 16 to 21 in 2005, I worked at Sam Ash, from 2005 to 2008 I worked at Guitar Center, in 2008 I started doing work in recording studios as an assistant. Fast forward to the early 2010s, I worked at Vintage Vibe Electric Pianos working on Rhodes and Wurlitzers (as a novice). A year later, The Music Den scouted me, where I ended up becoming the Creative & Marketing Director. I was at The Music Den until I was hired by Marvel in 2018, and I took the plunge and went full-time with composing.

So as you can see, I have a deep admiration for the MI Industry, and I love staying connected to it. It’s great that I’m able to really give back for the immense support I receive as a composer for film, tv, video games, and record producers. I understand better than most people on my end, how important the relationship is between the artist and the company. I’m always looking to help with new product launches, promoting current products, or doing any type of promotional content (blogs, interviews, podcasts, videos, etc). If there’s anything I can ever do to help out, always feel free to reach out to me - I love nerding out about the gear that helps us create, and I’m here to do my part to get it out there.
